In our bodies, in this moment, there live the seed impulses of the change and spiritual growth we seek, and to awaken them we must bring our awareness into the body, into the here and now.

My primary approach to therapy is somatic, which means that I view the body as a container for who you are as a person, a method of communication, a site of exploration, and a tool for growth. Working from this approach, we will collaboratively find ways to build awareness of your internal states, increase resilience, support self-regulation, and create new, adaptive behavioral patterns. We will discuss your goals for therapy and routinely check in to discern whether the trajectory of therapy is supporting you.

I also use a strengths-based approach, as well as humanist and culturally sensitive. That means our work will be geared toward finding where your strengths have allowed you to be resilient. I acknowledge that culture is always in the room; we have our own experiences (whether they are similar or different) and the interplay of those will be explicitly discussed during our time together.

My commitment is to consistently provide a safe space for you to access what might be difficult to access alone. I am here as a companion and witness to your progress, as well as someone who will take the wheel if you need it. Your role in our work together is to show up authentically as best you can. Practicing what you learn, inside and outside our sessions, will support you in meeting your goals. Willingness to develop compassion for yourself is important, as change is not linear.

Change can look like many things. Maybe you stop being as panicked in situations that used to shake you to your core. You might notice you’re quicker to smile or laugh. It’s possible you’ll start responding in a more measured way to situations that used to make you explode. When we check in periodically about your therapeutic trajectory, we will discuss milestones of growth, possible setbacks, and areas needing more attention. These are natural parts of the therapeutic process.

My hope is that you will gain skills to navigate life in ways that make you feel healthy, regulated, and safe. Whatever growth means for you, I hope we can find it together. All of you is welcome – body, mind, and spirit. I am here for all of it and I hope you will be, too.
